The greatest glory and honor for woman
is to be called the Mother of God.
"Blessed are the paps that gave You suck,"
and followed You on the road You trod.
You then answered the deepest yearnings
that fills a woman's breast,
in teaching us how we may become Your mother
and put our yearnings to rest.
In every picture of the homeless,
and the neglected of the earth;
in every abject hungry face; be it the face of 90 years,
or one just after birth,
There is the Christ! He said He is
in every cold and hungry soul in war or strife,
waiting for a mother, male or female,
to nurture Him to fulness of life.
Whoever does so is my mother,
as when she visits me in prison. As mother:
"I am not ashamed to call them brothers,"
they are my daughters and my sons.
And thus, together we become
"Mount Zion, the mother of us all."
We bring forth our children, "dandle them upon our knees,"
in answer to His call.
We comfort them with
"the breasts of our consolation.
They drink deeply and are delighted with the
abundance of our glory" in the new creation.
